Review: Attrape Moi

Assembly Hall until August 29th
4 Stars (4 / 5)

FlipFabriQue’s Attrape Moi, directed by Olivier Normand, is filled from top to toe with world-class circus acts that will make audiences question anything they know about physics and the human body. Attrape Moi sees a group of friends reunite… and that is about as far as one can make of the plot. But what does it matter? This show is filled with high energy and a variety of stunts ranging from the usual balancing acts and flips, to fresher bits involving hula hoops, trampolines and diabolos among others.

The team, made up of world-class performers that have toured with circus superpowers like Cirque du Soleil and Cirque Éloize, make Attrape Moi all the more enjoyable with their affable charm and showmanship. Like a tight-knit group of friends, they get up to silly shenanigans and poke fun at and challenge each other to the delight of the audience. Attrape Moi has enough jaw-dropping stunts and entertainment value to make up for whatever it lacks in logic. At the end of the day, it is irrelevant why the characters are onstage; the audience is lapping up the experience and looking forward to more.
