Review: Circa – Humans

Underbelly’s Circus Hub on the Meadows, Edinburgh, Aug 6-8, 10-13, 15-20, 22-26

4 Stars (4 / 5)

Circa is everything it claims to be: thrilling, heart-stopping, and a gift to the human species. Featuring gravity-defying acts and a large ensemble of 10, audiences are captivated by the physical prowess of these circus artists, who contort, flip and tumble with a creative twist. However, without a through-line or underlying theme, it can be difficult to sustain interest the audience’s attention for an hour.

Regardless, Circa moves at unbelievable speeds to present death-defying acts, which sometimes may seem messy and uncoordinated, and consistently pushes the limits of the human body. This performance no-doubt deserves a standing ovation and will leave audiences amazed by our own species.
