Review: Acéléré

Circolombia
Underbelly’s Circus Hub on the Meadows, Aug 10-13, 15-20, 22-26

5 Stars (5 / 5)

Acéléré is basically the mic drop of circus acts. It is ferocious from start to finish, beginning with two powerful voices belting Colombian tunes in harmony that return throughout the course of the show as mini interludes. From the first instant, the energy is palpable, with Circolombia fully embracing their Colombian spirit. The performance is peppered with vibrant choreography complete with stomps, gyrations and fancy footwork.

There are multiple jaw-dropping moments in the show, including gravity-defying acts like a woman contorting on a hoop that balances on a man’s head, or the woman that lifts a man into the air through her teeth, and even the woman that swings from a rope 12 metres high. The show gets wilder and fiercer over the course of the evening, with audiences gasping, screaming and hooting in surprise and admiration.

Acéléré is definitely a must-see and will make anybody’s night.
