Review: The Comedy of Errors

Bristol Old Vic Theatre School Ensemble
Underbelly, Bristo Square – until April 14th
5 Stars (5 / 5)

Shakespeare’s classic slapstick of mistaken identities and mishap mayhem is brought to life and modernised by Bristol Old Vic Theatre School Ensemble. The merry cast manage to create a fluid and thoroughly comprehensible rendering, breaking the third wall occasionally to expedite and explain the nuances of the plot white keeping the best of The Bard’s poetry completely intact. A thoroughly skilled production that keeps the audience laughing throughout, making use of parody, farce and physical movement. A perfect introduction to Shakespeare which will not fail to also put smiles on the faces of seasoned enthusiasts.
